The heat of the war in Iran has reached the kitchens of Dehradun. The gas shortage in the capital is so severe that people are lining up at agencies and warehouses for cylinders. Despite this, people are still unable to get gas. While the administration claims uninterrupted and home-delivered gas, consumers are unable to book gas via mobile phone.
On Wednesday, queues of consumers lined up at several warehouses in Dehradun. People tried calling their mobile numbers throughout the day to book but couldn’t. Those who had already booked arrived at the agency, unsure if they would receive gas. At the Indane Gas agency in Naya Gaon, queues of consumers began forming early in the morning. The queue lasted from 8 a.m. until late afternoon. Cylinders were distributed to approximately 320 consumers, but then ran out.
More than 60 people were forced to return without gas. Similar situations were observed at several other agencies. Gas bookings have been problematic for the past several days. People are calling the booking number, but their calls aren’t connecting. This has caused concern and people are rushing to agencies. They wonder how they will get a cylinder if bookings aren’t being made.
Restaurants and Dhabas on the Verge of Closure
Domestic gas is still being supplied, but commercial establishments like hotels, Dhabas, and restaurants are not receiving gas. There are over 19,000 commercial gas connections in the district. The entire district consumes over 40,000 cylinders per month. The lack of gas supply has caused concern among street vendors, hotel owners, and Dhaba owners, who are facing the prospect of closing their establishments due to the lack of gas.
Gas is being supplied continuously. Some people are deliberately creating this situation. One should book gas and wait. The agency will deliver the cylinder at home. Furthermore, teams are vigilant against gas blackmarketers. If anyone does so, an FIR will be filed against them.
