Uttarakhand Police officer Lokjeet Singh has once again brought honor to the state. He is being honored with the prestigious national-level SKOCH Award for his effective, systematic, and innovative management of the Chardham Yatra. This honor will be presented on March 28, 2026, at the SKOCH Group’s 106th Summit at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
Learning from the challenges faced during the 2024 Yatra, Police Headquarters decided to establish a dedicated control room under the IG Range. Lokjeet Singh was entrusted with the responsibility of this control room. Within a short time, he established the control room with his team and began extensive preparations, ensuring a smooth and organized conduct of the 2025 Chardham Yatra.
Various challenges that arose during the Yatra were addressed through a systematic and dynamic approach. Lokjeet Singh successfully handled important responsibilities, notably coordinating relief and rescue operations during the Dharali disaster, the challenge of security management following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, and effectively monitoring rescue operations in helicopter accidents.
Lokjeet Singh’s work ethic, quick decision-making, and ability to coordinate across various agencies have been recognized nationally. He was previously honored with the FICCI Smart Policing Award for COVID management in 2021. In addition, he was awarded the Governor’s Excellence in Service Medal for the Chardham Yatra management in 2024.
This honor is not only a personal achievement for Lokjeet Singh, but also a national recognition of the Uttarakhand Police’s professional competence, disaster management skills, and dedication to public service.
