Srinagar: The leopard, which had been a synonym of terror in the Srinagar Pauri Road area for a long time, was finally caught in a cage set up by the forest department on Saturday morning. It is being said that this is the same leopard that had attacked three people in the Ganga Darshan area within the last few days, due to which there was an atmosphere of panic among the local people.
After the increasing activity of the leopard and the increasing incidents of attacks, the forest department had set up a cage in the Gaushala area near Ganga Darshan. After continuous monitoring and efforts, this leopard got trapped in the same cage this morning. The local people heaved a sigh of relief with the news of the leopard being caught, but the forest department has still appealed to be vigilant. The forest department has appealed to the people to still be vigilant despite the leopard being caught. Do not go out alone during morning or evening walks or any other activity and especially avoid dark areas.
The department says that the leopard has been caught, but it is a matter of investigation why the leopard attacked? The forest department team has taken the leopard to the forest office in Pauri, where a team of wildlife experts and doctors will examine its health. Experts will try to find out whether there is any injury, disease or any other reason behind the aggressive behavior of the leopard. After the leopard was caught, there is some relief among the local people. At the same time, the department has also clarified that the activities of other wildlife are also going on in the surrounding forests, so it has advised not to be careless.
It should be noted that the threat of leopard has been there in many areas of Srinagar for a long time. The leopard has been captured many times in the CCTV cameras installed in people’s homes. Not only this, the leopard has attacked and injured many people. Recently, a leopard suddenly attacked a young man on Pauri Road ahead of Ganga Darshan area and seriously injured him. After which the injured youth was hurriedly admitted to the nearest hospital, where seeing the serious condition of the youth, the doctors referred him to a higher center.
The injured youth Sandeep Kumar was a resident of Roorkee (Haridwar). The youth was living in Srinagar area for some time. On July 9, a leopard attacked a youth who was taking a walk on the Srinagar-Pauri motorway in the evening. Eyewitnesses said that the youth was passing by the roadside when the leopard ambushed him and attacked him. When people shouted, the leopard fled from the spot, saving the youth’s life.
