The Honorable Minister of Cooperatives, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, chaired a review meeting of the Cooperative Department today, conducting a detailed review of its functioning. Expressing serious concern over the increasing Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) of the State Cooperative Bank, the Minister instructed officials to hold a meeting promptly to address the large NPA accounts and ensure effective recovery procedures.
During the meeting, the Minister sought detailed information on the action taken so far regarding the SIT (Special Investigation Team) investigations into 21 cooperative societies and directed that complete transparency and timeliness be ensured in the investigation process.
The Honorable Minister also reviewed the preparations for the cooperative fairs to be held in Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, and Tehri districts in the coming days. He instructed officials to complete all arrangements on time and to ensure that the cooperative fairs in these three districts are organized grandly and efficiently, so that the achievements of the cooperative movement can be effectively communicated to the general public.
Dr. Rawat stated that the Cooperative Department is the backbone of the state’s economic and rural development system, and that transparency, discipline, and public trust should be paramount in the department’s functioning. He clarified that taking strict action against financial irregularities and strengthening cooperative activities are priorities for the government.
The meeting was attended by Registrar of Cooperatives Dr. Meharban Singh Bisht, Additional Registrars Ms. Ira Upreti and Mr. Anand Shukla, Joint Registrars Neeraj Belwal and M.P. Tripathi, Deputy Registrar Ramindri Mandarwal, Managing Director Pradeep Mehrotra, Under Secretary Surendra Dutt Belwal, along with other senior departmental officials and representatives of cooperative institutions
