New Delhi: Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has reserved its decision in the land for job scam case. The decision on the chargesheet against RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and others in the land for job case has been reserved. The CBI has filed a chargesheet against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, Tejashwi and others in this case. It is alleged that jobs were given in the railways in exchange for land. The court has reserved its decision till October 13.Had approached the Supreme Court
Earlier, former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav had approached the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the proceedings of the lower court in the land for job case. Earlier, this demand of Lalu Yadav was rejected by the Delhi High Court. The Delhi High Court had said that there was no solid reason to stay the proceedings.What did Lalu Prasad Yadav say in the petition?
In his petition in the High Court, Lalu Prasad Yadav had sought quashing of the CBI FIR and three charge sheets and cognizance orders filed in 2022, 2023 and 2024. He had said that the report was filed in 2022 with a delay of 14 years, while the CBI had closed the preliminary inquiry and investigation after filing a closure report before the competent court.
What is the land for job case?
Officials said that the case relates to Group-D appointments in the West Central Zone of the Indian Railways located in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The appointment was made between 2004 and 2009 when Lalu was the Railway Minister. In exchange for these appointments, people gifted or transferred pieces of land in the name of the RJD supremo’s family or associates. On May 18, 2022, a case was registered against Lalu and his wife, two daughters, unknown government officials and private individuals, among others.
