Ramnagar: The continuous torrential rains in the mountains have caused havoc in Ramnagar of Nainital district. This morning, 10 to 15 prasad shops located near the famous Garjia Devi temple were swept away in the strong current of the Kosi river. Poor shopkeepers have suffered a huge financial loss in this accident.
Due to continuous rain for the last two days, the water level of the Kosi river is continuously rising. The local administration and people associated with the temple had already warned the people. Jitendra Pandey, priest of Garjia temple, said that late at night, the prasad sellers were warned about the rising river. Many shopkeepers took out their goods safely in time, but some traders could not remove the goods.
The morning scene was scary: According to eyewitnesses, the flow of the Kosi river suddenly increased as soon as it was morning. The river water reached the shops. Within a few minutes, these temporary shops made of wood and tin were swept away. People present on the spot captured this scene in mobile cameras. In which shops are seen floating with the strong current of the river.
Shopkeepers’ suffering: Shopkeeper Shibu Pandey said, shops of about 10 to 15 shopkeepers have been washed away. Most had taken out their goods, but some people could not take out the goods. The water level of the river suddenly increased this morning, causing this loss. This is a big blow for the poor prasad sellers, because their livelihood depended on these shops.
Giant tree fell on auto, major accident averted: Due to continuous rain in the area, a major accident was averted on Wednesday. A giant tree suddenly fell on an auto on National Highway-309 Ramnagar-Kashipur road. Due to which the auto driver was injured. Two other passengers riding in it also suffered minor injuries. After this incident, there was chaos on the highway. Long queues of vehicles were formed on both sides. Due to the accident, this main route remained blocked for more than two hours.
