Rudraprayag: Due to heavy landslide, tons of debris has accumulated on the Rantoli-Jawadi bypass connecting Rishikesh-Badrinath and Rudraprayag-Gaurikund highway, due to which two-way traffic has been stopped. The road is also likely to be damaged by the debris.
According to NH, it may take four to five days to clear the debris. On Saturday evening at around 7 pm, a heavy landslide occurred from the hill about one km ahead of Jagatoli on the Rantoli-Jawadi bypass, due to which tons of debris fell on the highway along with trees and plants.
The debris was so much that in a moment a mound more than 10 to 15 feet high was formed here from the road. Looking at the heavy debris, it is estimated that 25 to 30 meters of the road has also suffered extensive damage.
As soon as the bypass was blocked, two-way traffic has been stopped. District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said that there is no loss of life or property due to the bypass being blocked. It was good that the vehicles running on the bypass had stopped 40 to 50 meters before on both sides.
On the other hand, Executive Engineer of National Highway Construction Section PWD Rudraprayag Omkar Pandey said that there has been a massive landslide on the bypass. It may take four to five days to clear the debris. It is likely that the debris has caused a lot of damage to the road as well.
