In view of the expected arrival of millions of devotees in Haridwar for the Kartik Purnima bathing festival, the police administration has released a city traffic plan. Entry of heavy vehicles into the Haridwar city area will be strictly prohibited from 6 pm on Tuesday until the end of the bathing festival on November 5th.
SSP Pramod Singh Dobal stated that police personnel have been deployed at all locations to implement the plan. Separate routes and parking spaces have been designated for vehicles arriving from Delhi, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Dehradun, and Najibabad.
The following will be the arrangements for vehicles arriving from these routes:
– Vehicles arriving from Delhi-Meerut-Muzaffarnagar and Punjab will arrive via Narsan, Mangalore, Core College, Khyaati Dhaba, Gurukul Kangri, and Shankaracharya Chowk.
– These vehicles will be parked at the Alaknanda, Deendayal, Pantdweep, and Bat Island parking lots.
– If traffic congestion increases, vehicles will be diverted via Naglaimarti, Laksar, Ferupur, Jagjitpur, SM Tiraha, and Shani Chowk to Mata Sadan Puliya. Such vehicles will be parked at the Bairagi Camp parking lot.
– Small vehicles coming from Moradabad and Najibabad will reach Haridwar via Chidiyapur, Shyampur, and Chandi Chowki. Parking will be available at Deendayal, Pantdweep, and Bat Island.
– Large vehicles will be diverted from Shyampur to Gaurishankar and Neeldhara parking lots.
– Devotees coming from Dehradun and Rishikesh will come to Haridwar via Nepali Farm and Raiwala. Parking will be available at Laljiwala, Pantdweep, and Bat Island.
Routes have also been decided for buses and autos.
– Private buses coming from Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana will stop at the Bairagi Camp parking lot via Narsan, Mangalore, Laksar, and Sultanpur.
Vikram and auto-rickshaws coming from Dehradun and Rishikesh will only be allowed up to Jayaram Mor. They will drop passengers there and return.
A special diversion has also been established for auto-rickshaws plying on the BHEL, Jwalapur, and Kankhal routes. All types of vehicles, including auto-rickshaws and taxis, will be prohibited from Laltara Bridge to Shivmurti Chowk.
Strictness on Heavy Vehicles
– Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter Haridwar city during the Kartik Purnima bathing festival. They will be stopped at Narsan, Mandawar, Chidiyapur Border, SIDCUL, and Abdul Kalam Chowk.
– Trucks coming from Dehradun will be stopped at Nepali Farm or Raiwala.
– Any vehicle entering the city limits will be parked at Bat Island.
