The Kanwar Yatra is starting from today. From Shravan Krishna Paksha Pratipada to Chaturdashi, Kanwariyas will take Gangajal from Har Ki Pauri and offer it in Shiva temples in cities, towns and villages of UP, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh. Innumerable Kanwariyas are going to arrive in these fourteen days to fill the Kanwar.
There are three great pilgrimages of Shiva devotees in the month of Shravan. The first is the Kanwar Yatra, the second is of Baba Amarnath. The third is the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. As much as these journeys are tiring, they are equally joy-giving after the Jalabhishek. Haridwar is important because Bhole Bhandari will come to Kankhal on Friday to fulfill the promise given to King Brahmaputra Daksha of Kankhal in the first part of time.
The Kanwar Yatra starts from Haridwar to Shiva temples twice a year. The water of the Kanwar of the month of Phalgun is offered on Mahashivratri and the water of the Kanwar of the month of Shravan is offered on Shiv Chaudas. The chanting of Bam Bam and Har Har Mahadev has begun in Dharamnagari. Water will be offered on Shiv Chaudas on Wednesday, 23 July. The reason for this is that the dates of Ekadashi, Dwadashi and Trayodashi are falling together, in which Trayodashi will be lost.
