On Friday, Sports Minister Rekha Arya inaugurated the Sher Singh Karki Memorial Sports Competition in Muwani, Pithoragarh. Rural teams from all parts of the district are participating in this competition.
Inaugurating the competition, Chief Guest Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that sports facilities are now being made available even in remote areas of the state. The state government’s goal is to produce national and international level champions from every village in Uttarakhand. Only then will our dream of establishing Uttarakhand as a sports land be realized.
She said that to develop a sports culture in the state, the state government has taken several steps that will secure the future of athletes and inspire our youth to pursue sports as a career.
Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that most athletics champions come from rural areas, and this competition is a major step in that direction.
The Sports Minister said that India has been awarded the hosting rights for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, and the government will strive to ensure that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand has some participation in the hosting.
BJP District President Girish Joshi, District Panchayat President Jitendra Prasad, School Manager Ranjit Singh, Suresh Suyal, Dheeraj Singh Bisht, Purna Chandra Joshi, Mukul Kandpal, Sub-District Magistrate Khushboo, Kundan Singh Pujara, etc. were present at the event.
Inspected the playground*
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya inspected the playground under construction. She directed the officials of the implementing agency to complete the playground within the stipulated time frame with utmost quality. This work should be completed by the end of this year. Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that this playground will play a major role in nurturing talent from rural areas and promoting it to national and international levels.
