Nashik: The indigenously made fighter aircraft ‘Tejas Mk-1A’, the symbol of the country’s defence power, has been inducted into the Indian Air Force. The construction line of the fighter aircraft Tejas MK-1A was inaugurated at the production centre of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Nashik on Friday, October 17 in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Symbol of self-reliance:
On this occasion, ‘Tejas Mk-1A’ was demonstrated before Rajnath Singh. Rajnath Singh said that the leap of Tejas MK-1A is a symbol of India’s self-reliance. He congratulated the entire team for this.
“Rajnath Singh said, “”Today, the third production line of ‘Tejas Mk-1A’ and the second production line of HTT 40 aircraft were inaugurated at HAL.” I am very happy to dedicate these two projects to the country. I am happy that I could come to the holy land of Nashik on this occasion. I am proud to see the performance of the Sukhoi 30 and HTT 40 built in HAL. This leap is a symbol of India’s self-reliance.
The return of HAL’s pride:
The foundation stone of the HLL was laid in the presence of the then Chief Minister Yashwantrao Chavan at Ozar in Nashik. According to the agreement between India and Russia, 667 MiG-21 fighter jets were manufactured at HAL between 1964 and 1995. Now, with Tejas production starting after HTT 40, HAL is set to regain its old glory once again. Important for HAL:
Nashik HAL signed the first contract to build MiG-21 aircraft using Russian technology in 1966. Since then, HAL has seen many commendable moments. There were several commendable milestones, such as the production, maintenance of the MiG-21 aircraft, the construction of the Sukhoi and the contract for the production of last year’s HTT 40 aircraft.
Now, when the glory of the production of ‘Tejas Mk-1A’ is added to it, it will be a turning point for the Nashik-based HAL. Also, in the future HAL will focus on developing advanced aircraft through the light combat aircraft Tejas and the upgraded light helicopter Dhruv project. Significant performance of MiG-21:
The MiG-21 fighter jet played a very important role in the 1971 war with Pakistan. The MiG-21 also played an important role in the Kargil war. Due to its supersonic speed and powerful engines, the MiG-21 was able to defeat the enemy.
