New Delhi: The Trump administration’s decision to reduce tariffs imposed on India is being considered a major achievement. A trade agreement was reached during talks between US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
The US has reduced the 25 percent tariff imposed on India to 18 percent. Senior ministers, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, expressed their happiness over the trade deal and called it historic. Rajnath Singh praised the agreement.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday praised the India-US trade agreement. He called the US decision to reduce tariffs on India to 18 percent a historic moment that will take bilateral economic relations between the two countries to new heights.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Defence Minister described the agreement as a major milestone in India-US relations, which will foster stronger ties and strategic cooperation. He also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump on the agreement.

US official confirms this
Meanwhile, a White House official confirmed to ANI that Washington will also remove the additional 25 percent tariff imposed on Indian imports due to New Delhi’s purchase of Russian oil, noting that India would have to not just reduce, but stop buying Russian oil.
