Hyderabad: President Droupadi Murmu attended the inaugural session of the ‘National Conference of Chairpersons of Public Service Commissions’ held at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad on Friday, December 19. On this occasion, she emphasized the need to expedite recruitment processes and maintain transparency, stating that the commissions should find quick solutions to their challenges so that they can effectively achieve their goals.
She praised the Public Service Commissions, saying that they play a crucial role in India’s development and, through transparent recruitment processes, stand as some of the most trusted institutions in the country. She stressed that the honesty and integrity of candidates should be given utmost importance. She also suggested that Public Service Commissions should prioritize gender sensitivity. President Droupadi Murmu said, “India is striving to become the world’s third-largest economic power. At the same time, we are also working towards achieving the goal of a ‘Developed India’ by 2047. At this time, India needs the best civil servants. I am confident that through this conference, the Public Service Commissions will adopt even better methods for appointing such individuals.”
UPSC Chairman Dr. Ajay Kumar expressed confidence that this conference would play a significant role in the field of the Constitution and administration. He said that the main objective of this conference is to further strengthen the State Public Service Commissions. He suggested that increasing public trust in the Public Service Commissions is everyone’s responsibility.
UPSC Chairman Dr. Ajay Kumar further added, “We are soon planning to establish a ‘Center of Excellence’ through the UPSC. This will enhance the capacity of the State Public Service Commissions and increase trust in them. This will help in conducting the recruitment process without any legal hurdles.”
Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma said that it is a matter of pride that the 26th National Conference is being organized by the Telangana Public Service Commission. She praised the Telangana Public Service Commission for successfully conducting all types of examinations last year.
She suggested that appointments should be based on merit and a fixed calendar to ensure the selection of dedicated individuals. Several important suggestions were made to maintain public trust in Public Service Commissions, such as issuing timely notifications, conducting examinations promptly, and declaring results without delay.
The event was attended by President Droupadi Murmu, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, State Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka, UPSC Chairman Ajay Kumar, and TGPSC Chairman Burra Venkatesham. Earlier, the UPSC Chairman presented President Murmu with a silver carving crafted by Telangana artists. Following this, various challenges faced by Public Service Commissions were discussed. Policies adopted by different states and possibilities for mutual cooperation were also deliberated upon.
The two-day conference is being organized under the auspices of the Telangana Public Service Commission. Special security arrangements have been made in view of the arrival of the President today and the Vice President tomorrow. Rachakonda Police Commissioner Sudheer Babu has declared the entire area a ‘no-fly’ and ‘no-drone zone’.
