New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke with Japan’s first female Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi, and congratulated her on assuming office. They discussed a shared vision for advancing the partnership between India and Japan.
The two leaders emphasized that strong India-Japan relations are crucial for global peace, stability, and prosperity. Sharing details of the call in a post on X, PM Modi said, “Had a warm conversation with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi of Japan.”
PM Modi said that he congratulated Takaichi on assuming office and discussed our shared vision of advancing the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership, focusing on economic security, defense cooperation, and talent mobility. During the conversation, PM Modi said, both sides agreed that strong India-Japan relations are important for global peace, stability, and prosperity.
Earlier on October 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Japan’s newly elected first woman Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi, on Tuesday. He emphasized that the deepening relationship between India and Japan is important for peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
Prime Minister Modi said in a post on X, “Sanae Takaichi, heartiest congratulations on being elected Prime Minister of Japan. I look forward to working with you to further strengthen the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership. Our deepening ties are crucial for peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.”
Responding to PM Modi’s warm greetings, Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi said on X, “I look forward to working with you to further promote the Japan-India Special Strategic and Global Partnership.”
Earlier, state media reported, Takaichi said his government would deepen multilateral dialogue with India and other countries such as South Korea, the Philippines, and Australia, and advance a free and open Indo-Pacific, where China is increasing its military activities.
Describing the alliance with the United States as the cornerstone of Japan’s diplomatic and security policies, Takaichi further emphasized that China is an important neighbor with whom Japan needs to foster constructive and stable relations, as well as strategic and mutually beneficial ties.
