New Delhi: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), under the Ministry of Labor, Government of India, manages Provident Fund (PF) and EPS pensions as a financial security for private sector employees. Currently, EPFO has over 70 million members. EPFO has introduced several facilities for its members, allowing you to make various corrections or updates to your profile online from the comfort of your home. You don’t need to visit EPF offices. Similarly, if you haven’t yet updated the nominee in your EPF account, you can simplify this process.
EPF is a long-term investment option where both employers and employees contribute 12% of their basic salary to build a retirement fund. Like all other investments, updating nominee details is essential to ensure that the right person receives the benefit in the event of the EPF account holder’s death. However, only parents, children, and spouses can be made EPF nominees.
If you want to update or change your EPF nominee online, you must have an active UAN number linked to your Aadhaar. Your mobile number must also be linked to your Aadhaar. An updated member profile with a photo and address. A scanned photograph of the nominee. The nominee’s Aadhaar number, bank account number, and address, along with IFSC code.
Steps to add a nominee to your EPF account
Go to the EPFO portal
Log in using your UAN and password
Under the “Manage” option, click on “e-Nomination”
Click on “Enter New Information”
A page will open with your account details.
Click “Proceed”
In the “Family Declaration” section, click “Yes” to add a new nominee or update an existing nominee.
Now enter the nominee’s details along with a photo.
Click “Save Family Details”
Click “Add Now” to add more than one nominee.
Now fill in the details of the second nominee.
Enter the share you want to allocate to each nominee and save the nomination.
In the “Pending Nominations” section, you can see the list of nominees.
Now click “e-Sign”
Enter the Aadhaar Virtual ID and click “Verify”
Check the box to consent to e-KYC services.
Now enter the Aadhaar Virtual ID and click “Get OTP”
Enter the OTP.
After OTP verification, the nominee will be added to the EPF account.
