Due to the disaster, the Char Dham Yatra is dependent on Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham, but landslides are a big challenge in the way of the journey to both. The journey to Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham is completely closed due to the disaster in Uttarkashi district. This time the operation of Char Dham Yatra has been affected more due to heavy rains.
Usually, the number of pilgrims coming to Char Dham Yatra decreases in the monsoon season. The pace of the journey increases again in the month of September, but this time the journey to Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham is closed due to the disaster in Uttarkashi district. There is silence in both the Dhams which used to resonate with the cheers of devotees.
According to the data of the Tourism Department, the Char Dham Yatra started from April 30. So far, more than 42.54 lakh pilgrims have visited Char Dham. The journey to Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham is closed. Whereas three to five thousand devotees are visiting Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham every day. The journey is being disrupted due to landslide at Kameda, Lambagad on Badrinath Dham route. While landslide between Sonprayag and Gaurikund is a big challenge to go to Kedarnath Dham.
Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj says that the pace of Chardham Yatra has slowed down due to the disaster. The journey will pick up pace again after the weather changes. This time there is a high possibility of landslides at various places due to rain. In view of this, pilgrims should travel after getting information about the weather.
