Immediately restore summer tourism facilities and essential services – DM
Dehradun: District Magistrate Savin Bansal reviewed the existing arrangements while holding an important meeting with the concerned departmental officials regarding the summer tourism system in Mussoorie. He instructed the officials to ensure all the necessary arrangements for the convenience and safety of the tourists in time. ‘Mussoorie’ Shuttle service will be operational again in summer tourism like winter, the DM has instructed the concerned officials for this, while facility counters will be set up for the convenience of tourists at Gazi Band and King Craig. It is the result of the hard work of the district administration that this has been possible for the first time in decades, due to which systematic shuttle service golf cart is being seen in Mussoorie tourism. The DM gave the credit for this to his team SDM, RTO, SP Traffic, the district administration team has introduced systematic tourism in winter. The district administration team has geared up to provide high-tech ride parking and security to the tourists; relief from traffic jams. The district administration had started digital receipts on Mall Road in the month of December itself.*
The DM has given instructions to remove encroachment from the road and to install signboards, markings and indicators at Gazi Band and King Craig satellite parking.
For the convenience of tourists, inquiry counters, waiting rooms, rest rooms, food outlets, all will be installed at the designated stops. With tireless efforts, the DM has got 14 new golf carts for the municipality, which is relieving the traffic jam on Mall Road to a great extent and local people have also got employment.
The District Magistrate directed that the shuttle service should be made operational before the start of summer tourism in Mussoorie. Arrangements for parking of vehicles for shuttle operation and shuttle helpdesk should be established at Library Chowk and Picture Palace. In coordination with Mussoorie Municipal Council, Police and Transport Department, determine the authorized parking operator and appropriate place for extended vehicle parking area. The Police Department should free the vehicles and instruct the authorized taxi operators as per the parking capacity available in the hotels of Mussoorie. Marking should be done at the parking places identified by the police and transport department on Hathi Paon Band. Sign boards and proper signs of shuttle parking should be installed on the entire route from Mussoorie diversion, Dehradun to Kinkreag parking. The authorized shuttle service operator should operate the token system as per the contract agreement and convenience of passengers. Schedule the time of vehicles on Mall Road.
The District Magistrate directed the Jal Nigam to immediately hand over the work completed on Camel Bank Road and SDM Lay and the Executive Officer of the Municipality to jointly inspect the road. He said that if the quality of the work is not found to be correct, RC should be cut and challan should be issued. The PWD was instructed to complete the remaining work in the 800 meter patch on Motilal Nehru Road soon. Marking should be done again on Gajji Band. The District Magistrate said that the Municipality has sufficient funds, yet if required, funds will be given from the District Plan. The District Magistrate also directed to immediately remove encroachment from the roads. District Supply Officer was instructed to shift the cylinder vehicles to another place around Kinkreag vehicle parking. During this, necessary instructions were given to the concerned officers regarding immediate restoration of summer tourism facilities and essential services.
SDM Mussoorie Anamika, RTO Sunil Sharma, EE PWD B. Divedi, DTDO Seema Nautiyal, DSO KK Agarwal and officials of other departments related to the arrangements were present in the meeting.
