There was chaos in the pilgrimage city of Rishikesh on Monday when IG Anant Kumar’s official vehicle met with an accident near Saat Mod. A car coming from the opposite direction collided with the IG’s car. Fortunately, there were no casualties. The driver of the car, who was coming from the opposite direction, admitted his mistake and said he had dozed off, losing control of the car and colliding with the IG’s car.
On Monday, the passing out ceremony for Deputy Superintendent of Police trainees was held at the Police Training College, Narendra Nagar. Inspector General of Police Training, Anant Shankar Takwale, had also arrived to attend the ceremony. While returning to Dehradun after the ceremony, the IG’s car was hit by another car coming from Dehradun near Saat Mod at around 4:30 pm, causing significant damage.
A police team immediately arrived at the scene.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team immediately arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. In the initial moments, there was commotion and crowd at the spot, but the relief was that no one was injured in the accident. Police officials reached the spot and took stock of the situation and got the damaged vehicles removed from the road and restored traffic.
CO Neeraj Semwal said that the driver of the car coming from Dehradun accepted his mistake and told the police that he had dozed off. Due to which he lost control of his car and collided with the IG’s car. Both the cars were badly damaged in the collision. The police have taken the IG’s car to Ranipokhari police station. While the other one has been brought to Kotwali Rishikesh.
