Uttarkashi: The process has been started to develop Saptarishi Kund and its track, located at a distance of 14 km from Yamunotri at an altitude of about 16 thousand feet above sea level. The Forest Department has been sanctioned an amount of about 20 lakhs by the government for this. After this, the tender process has been started on this.
Saptarishi Kund can be reached by a walking track of about 14 km from Yamunotri Dham. This Kund is spread over about half a kilometer. Rare wildlife and vegetation are found around it. From there, beautiful valleys along with the snow-clad peaks of the Himalayas can be observed. Local people often go here for trekking and from a religious point of view. But due to the lack of development of the traditional track leading there, there is a danger in movement there. For a long time, local people were demanding its development and linking it with adventure tourism.
Now the government has sanctioned an amount of 20 lakhs to the forest department to develop the 14 km track from Yamunotri Dham to Saptarishi Kund. DFO Ravindra Pundir said that under this, the road will be improved and huts and bio-toilets etc. will be constructed. The tender process has been started for this. Local people say that with its development, new dimensions of tourism will open up in the area. Because along with the Chardham Yatra, devotees ask for information about tracks etc. in the area. But due to lack of development of tracks, they are unable to provide information about them.
