Haldwani: Road accidents on Rudrapur Haldwani National Highway are not stopping. A major road accident took place late Saturday night near Muktidham old Subhash Nagar police check post under Lalkuan police station area of National Highway-109. Here a milk vehicle of a private company and an 18-tyre truck collided. The collision was so fierce that the milk vehicle was completely damaged. In the accident, a young man died on the spot, while two others were seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to Sushila Tiwari Hospital with the help of 108, where the condition of both remains critical. At the same time, the police has started investigating the incident. The police is identifying the dead and injured in the incident.
According to eyewitnesses, the milk vehicle driver collided with an 18-tyre truck going ahead while trying to save a bike rider. The collision was so fierce that the milk vehicle was shattered and three people riding in it got stuck in the vehicle. Local people and policemen rescued two injured people, but a young man remained stuck in the vehicle for about half an hour and died a painful death on the spot. Due to the accident, there was a long jam on both sides of Bareilly Road. After a lot of hard work, the police got the jam cleared in about half an hour. At the same time, to take out the deceased, the police got a gas cutter and cut the vehicle to take out the deceased. After which the police took the body of the deceased into custody and sent it for post-mortem.
Laalkuan Kotwali’s woman sub-inspector Anju Yadav, who reached the spot, said that the police took immediate action and sent the injured to the hospital and made the traffic smooth. The injured and the dead are being identified. The condition of both the injured remains critical. She said that the police has started investigating the incident. It is worth noting that four road accidents have happened on Lalkuan Haldwani National Highway in the last one month, in which many people have lost their lives. But many people have been injured. It is being told that the highway is two-lane at the place where the incident took place. Not only this, there is forest on both sides of the highway and it is very dark. No lighting and road safety measures have been taken, which is causing accidents.
