A young man jumped into the Yamuna river from the bridge of Dakpathar Barrage. The young man got lost after getting swept away in the river. SDRF and police conducted a search operation in the river and the coastal area, but no clue could be found. The young man had come to Dakpathar Barrage from Puruwala area of โโHimachal Pradesh. Police has sent information to the border police stations of Dehradun and Himachal Pradesh to identify the youth.
Kotwali in-charge Vikasnagar Vinod Singh Gusain said that on Sunday morning, information was received about a young man jumping into the river from Dakpathar Barrage. On receiving the information, Dakpathar outpost police reached the spot. People present on the spot told the police that a young man of the age between 25 to 30 years came towards Dakpathar Barrage from Puruwala area of โโHimachal Pradesh.
He kept roaming near Dakpathar Barrage for some time. Seeing a person coming from the front, he slowly started walking forward. After the person passed in front, the young man jumped into the river below from the bridge of Dakpathar Barrage.
The police station in-charge said that even after conducting a search operation in the river and around its banks late in the evening, no trace of the youth who was swept away in the river could be found. The search operation will be conducted again from Monday morning. He said that due to the fast flow of the river and the high amount of silt, the search operation is also facing difficulties. Information has been sent to the border police stations of Dehradun and Himachal Pradesh for the identification of the youth.
