Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met with those injured in the Himachal Roadways bus accident that occurred yesterday in the Kalsi area at Doon Hospital in Dehradun and inquired about their well-being. The Chief Minister also instructed the doctors to ensure proper treatment for all those injured in the bus accident.
The Himachal Roadways bus, which was coming from Chaupal in Himachal Pradesh to Paonta Sahib, fell into a 100-meter deep gorge near Sudoi Khad on the Haripur-Koti-Kwanu-Meenas highway on Tuesday. The accident occurred when the embankment collapsed while the bus was giving way to a truck coming from the Kalsi side. There were 36 people on board the bus. Yasmin (38) from Piuntra Dawra, Nerwa in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, Dhan Bahadur (50) from Kyumla, and Riya (28) from Bijmal village died on the spot, while 33 people were injured. The condition of the bus driver, Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Popat in Shimla, is said to be critical.
Injured taken to hospital in private and passenger vehicles
According to the sequence of events, the Tehsil administration received information about the bus falling into the gorge at around 10 am on Tuesday. Naib Tehsildar Rajendra Lal reached the spot. An SDRF team also arrived. Before this, local people and passersby had promptly started rescue operations and pulled several injured people out of the gorge. The SDRF also intensified the rescue operation after reaching the spot. Since ambulances did not arrive on time, people started taking the injured to the hospital in private and passenger vehicles. 14 patients were taken to the sub-district hospital, 10 to Lehman Hospital in Herbertpur, three to the government hospital in Paonta, and one to Graphic Era Hospital in Dhulkot for treatment.
Upon receiving the information, ADM Finance KK Mishra, SDM Vikasnagar Vinod Kumar, SDM Paonta Sahib Gunjit Singh Cheema, DSP Paonta Manvendra Thakur, and Tehsildar Vikasnagar Vivek Rajouri also reached the hospital and inquired about the condition of the injured. They instructed the doctors to provide proper treatment. ADM Finance KK Mishra and Tehsildar Rajendra Lal stated that three people have died in the accident, while 33 have been injured. Four of the injured have been referred to a higher medical center
