The Uttarakhand High Court has sought responses from the CBI and the state government in a case related to the permission to prosecute Rahul, the former director of the Corbett Tiger Reserve. A single bench of Justice Ashish Naithani issued this order during the hearing. The next hearing will be held on October 28th.
Former director Rahul had filed a petition in the High Court. He stated that the CBI was investigating construction work and tree felling in the Pakhro area of the Kalagarh Tiger Reserve without government permission. The CBI completed the investigation and filed a charge sheet. On September 4, 2025, permission to prosecute was granted against some officials, but Rahul was excluded from this list.
The petitioner states that despite this, the state government granted permission to prosecute him a week later, which is contrary to rules and facts. He stated that the government often issues investigation orders based on newspaper reports, even though the investigation into this case has not yet been completed.
- Rahul urged the court to declare he permission to prosecute him illegal. The court has fixed October 28 for the next hearing, seeking detailed replies from both the CBI and the state government in the matter.
