Nainital: Nainital High Court has suspended the Deputy Jailor and Jawan of Sitarganj Jail in the case of assault on a POCSO accused in jail.
The case was heard before a division bench of Chief Justice G Narendra and Justice Alok Mehra. According to the case, while hearing a petition, the division bench has taken this action on the basis of the report filed by the Secretary DLSA Udham Singh Nagar. The court has given instructions to suspend Constable Ram Singh Kapkoti and Deputy Jailor Naveen Chauhan of Central Jail Sitarganj by order dated July 15.
They have been accused of badly beating the accused prisoner and injuring him. Also, the Jail Superintendent was asked to present the names of other officers who were present when the DLSA Secretary talked to POCSO accused prisoner Subhan. Also, the Additional Director General of Police (Prisons) has been directed to ensure immediate compliance of this order. The court has asked to keep the report and photographs related to the incident safe with the Registrar Judicial.
