Heavy rains have been wreaking havoc in Dehradun for the last two days. In view of this, the Dehradun district administration is on alert day and night with full vigilance. On the instructions of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, people living on the banks of rivers and drains are being alerted and advised to stay in safe places. All schools and Anganwadi centers in the district were kept closed on 01 and 02 September as a precaution. On the instructions of the District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate (V.R.) KK Mishra is taking information about the current situation in each tehsil and development block every moment. Officials in all tehsils and blocks have been asked to remain on alert mode. According to the information received from the District Disaster Control Room, the Ganga river is currently flowing above the danger mark at Triveni Ghat. Whereas Yamuna and Tons rivers are below the danger mark. Here people are being advised not to go to the river bank and stay in safe places away from the river. If we look at the rainfall data, 35 mm rainfall was recorded in Chakrata, 32 mm in Kalsi, 21.5 mm in Hathibadkala, 36.5 mm in Mussoorie, 40.5 mm in U-Cast, 46 mm in Koti, 22.5 mm in Maldevta, 26 mm in Mohkampur, 28.5 mm in Jolly Grant, 18.5 mm in Raiwala and 15.5 mm in Vikasnagar. Out of 106 cases related to waterlogging, 104 have been resolved. Due to heavy rains, Tyuni Chakrata Rota Khad motor road was closed at kilometer 44 and 45, the work of opening it is going on. All the state roads and district roads of the district are smooth. But 30 rural roads have been blocked due to rain, action is going on by PMGAY and PWD to make them smooth. Electricity and drinking water supply remains smooth in all tehsils. On the instructions of the District Magistrate, Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been deployed, headed by City Magistrate Pratyush Singh, SDM Harigiri and SDM Kumkum Joshi, along with supporting officials from the concerned departments, to deal with the problem of waterlogging in the Municipal Corporation areas. The QRT is regularly reviewing the waterlogged areas. 17 high pressure dewatering pumps have been installed to deal with the problem of waterlogging at major intersections. The response time of QRT has reduced due to the presence of de-watering pumps. Wherever the problem of waterlogging is found, the QRT is engaged in providing relief by giving quick response on the spot with its resources.
