Dehradun: Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat attacked BJP over Panchayat elections. Harish Rawat accused BJP of taking over the dynamic system of all institutions. He said that the state government has made every effort to win the Panchayat elections on the basis of muscle power and money power. In protest against this, he is going to start Nyay Yatra once again in September.
Harish Rawat said that democracy is a dynamic system with its various institutions. BJP is taking over the dynamic system of all these institutions. We have seen all this in Panchayat elections. First the elections were suspended, when elections had to be held in view of the High Court’s stance, a conspiracy was hatched in the Panchayat elections from the very first day. BJP messed up its reservation cycle in a planned manner.
Harish Rawat said that the government announced the election cycle but did not announce the reservation of district panchayats at that time. Even at that time we had expressed doubts about the intention of the government. Now this thing has been proved. He said that the cycle of reservation of district panchayat chairmen in four districts was messed up. An attempt was made to take advantage of it. In these four districts, the reservation of district panchayat chairmen was decided against the rules. Harish Rawat alleged that the BJP adopted wrong tactics to win the election. He said that it is clear in the Panchayati Raj Act 2016 that in case of more than one nomination, the nomination will be rejected. Harish Rawat says that it has been 25 years since the formation of the state but this time the Panchayati Raj system was torn to shreds.
He also targeted the police and administration and said that the police and administration worked to gather votes for the ruling party. Along with that, they also worked to rob votes. In many areas of the state, elected public representatives were kidnapped with the help of police and administration and the results were forcibly made in their favour. The whole country has seen the incident that happened in Nainital, how people are forcibly taking away voters with the help of weapons. Harish Rawat said that he has decided to take out Nyay Yatra again from September to take the issue of irregularities in Panchayat elections to the court of the people. The Congress organization will also wage a decisive battle against the irregularities in the elections. Demonstrations will be held in Dehradun and Nainital regarding this.
