Even after the accident on the Haridwar Mansa Devi temple road on Sunday, the path of faith did not weaken. The crowd is continuously gathering in the Mansa Devi temple. There is more crowd of devotees on the footpath than on the ropeway. Today, police personnel are also seen on alert at various places.
A stampede broke out on the Mansa Devi temple footpath at 9 am on Sunday. Eight devotees, including a 12-year-old boy, died and 30 people were injured in the accident. An eyewitness who was stuck at some distance in the crowd has also claimed that he got electrocuted when he caught hold of the electricity wires on the walls on the way due to the pressure of the crowd.
In the words of devotees
Gayatri, who came from Faridabad, said that she was at a short distance from the temple when suddenly she heard the rumor of electric current spreading. After this, people started pushing her down from the stairs, which made the situation even more horrific. After this, she regained consciousness directly in the hospital.
Kuldeep, who came from Delhi, described the scene of the stampede as terrifying. He said that he will never forget this incident. He said that a huge crowd of devotees was present on the stairs and suddenly people started running away, which created panic among the devotees visiting the temple.
Kuldeep also said that he saw four people lying dead on the spot, after which he does not remember anything. Others injured in the incident include Gayanti Devi of Chhapra, Bihar, Reena Devi of West Bengal, and Aarti. All of them are undergoing treatment in the hospital and their health condition has already improved.
