Traffic disruptions until morning
Traffic disruptions on the Haridwar-Najibabad highway remained disrupted until morning following the accident. The two trucks were so entangled that their driver cabins had to be separated using a crane. Meanwhile, police from the Chandighat outpost remained at the scene to ensure the smooth passage of vehicles from both directions. The trucks were moved to the side, and traffic resumed.
Measures must be taken before the winter fog sets in.
Due to the widening work on the Haridwar-Najibabad highway and the construction of a flyover on the Ring Road, traffic is currently one-way. Consequently, vehicles traveling on and off the highway are forced to use the same lane. There are also numerous curves, leading to accidents due to the inability to see each other. Local residents say that such reflective signs should be installed along one-way roads so that drivers can identify the one-way and construction projects at night. The collision between the trucks is also attributed to the fog along the Ganges River and the lack of accurate visibility of the one-way at night. Police are currently investigating the matter
