Haridwar:-The recently released investigation report by the central government’s Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has hit the credibility of 13 drug manufacturing units in the district. Many of the drugs from these companies failed to meet the prescribed standards in quality tests conducted in various laboratories.
Medicines such as stomach, antibiotics, multivitamins, painkillers and sugar control have been found to be of non-standard quality (NSQ). After failing the sample test, the drug department will now take action against them.
Six from Sidkul area of the district, two each from Roorkee and Bhagwanpur and one each from Haridwar Industrial Area, Bahadrabad and Bahadurpur Saini have been found to have failed in the sample test. In the examination of the central and state labs, the sample of Albendazole IP 400 mg tablet of a well-known company in Haridwar Sidkul has also failed.
Samples of more than 20 drugs, including stomach, antibiotics, have been found to be of non-standard quality. The report also described the albendazole tablet IP 400 mg manufactured by a well-known Sidkul-based pharmaceutical company as substandard. In addition, amoxicillin, paracetamol, dapagliflozin, olanzapine, ondancetron, zinc sulfate, dicyclomine, etc. have also failed the quality test.

At the same time, the investigation report has once again highlighted the need for surveillance on the pharma industry so that only safe, effective and standard-compliant drugs can reach the market.
