Sikhs protested today after former Cabinet Minister Harak Singh Rawat made offensive remarks against the Sikh community. A demonstration was held at Ghantaghar Chowk in Dehradun, where an effigy of the former minister was burned.
Congress leader Harak Singh Rawat, who had come to support the lawyers’ protest site on Friday, lost his temper. He allegedly made offensive remarks about Sikhs, leading to protests at the protest site. He was forced to apologize and leave the protest site.
He then returned to the Bar Association office at the District Court in the evening and presented his case to the lawyers. He also apologized for inadvertently hurting their sentiments. On the 26th day of the lawyers’ strike, Harak Singh Rawat arrived at the protest site on Haridwar Road. He was expressing support for the lawyers’ demands when a Sikh lawyer stood up to speak, prompting an uproar.
He had to apologize and leave.
The lawyers objected to his tone and called it an insult to the Sikh community. Harak asked not to misinterpret his remarks, but the lawyers’ protest continued. Due to the uproar, he had to apologize and leave. In the evening, he returned to the bar office and said that he had a personal relationship with the Sikh lawyer he had asked to sit.
His comments, which drew protests, were not intended to mock or offend anyone. He had made them in light of the history of Sikh bravery, but they were misinterpreted. Nevertheless, he apologizes if anyone’s feelings were hurt
