Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami prayed for the state’s prosperity, well-being, and public well-being by worshipping Mother Cow on the occasion of Govardhan Puja at the Gaushala located at the Chief Minister’s residence on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister said that Govardhan Puja symbolizes nature conservation and the love between humans and animals. This festival also teaches us to remain sensitive to our traditions, culture, and the environment.
The Chief Minister said that the cow has the status of a mother in Hinduism. Cows are an integral part of Sanatan culture and agricultural life. Their service and protection enhance our lives. Many families are supported by cow rearing and cow service. Cow conservation is not only linked to religious sentiments but also to livelihood and self-reliance.
The Chief Minister appealed to everyone to work together to serve, protect, and preserve cows. He said the state government is promoting the construction and operation of cow shelters for destitute cattle.
Earlier, five rupees per day per animal was given for the maintenance of destitute animals (those being raised in cow shelters) in the state. This has now been increased to 80 rupees per animal/per day. The state government has made a provision to provide 60 percent subsidy for the construction of private cow shelters. He said that construction work is underway on approximately 54 cow shelters in the state. The Chief Minister said that the state government will continue to work for cow protection in the future also
