The Google CEO also announced the ‘India-America Connect Initiative,’ a project to lay new undersea cable routes to enhance AI connectivity between the US, India, and several locations in the Southern Hemisphere. Business and employment opportunities will increase.
Pichai, who is attending the AI Impact Summit 2026, said that the recently announced $15 billion AI hub in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh, will include a gigawatt-scale compute facility and an international subsea cable gateway.
Google’s top boss said that upon completion, it will bring jobs and the benefits of cutting-edge AI to people and businesses across India. Google is the tech company behind foundational AI models like Gemini and Gemma, which form the backbone of advanced search, cloud services, and enterprise-grade tools. At the summit, Pichai also unveiled ambitious skilling programs, including the Google AI Professional Certificate Program in English and Hindi, for students and early-career professionals. Pichai stated that India is embarking on an extraordinary journey in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), and the company is fully committed to partnering in the country’s AI transformation.

He noted that India’s diversity, linguistic ecosystem, and robust digital public infrastructure make it a “powerful foundation for innovation” and a solid blueprint for democratizing AI globally.
Prioritizing Trust, Safety, and Inclusion
Pichai emphasized that trust, safety, and inclusion must be prioritized when adopting AI. He said, “AI must work in different languages and local contexts. It must provide real benefits that people can trust. Trust grows when technology is transparent, accountable, and based on concrete results.”
