Nainital: NCC’s first hi-tech firing range was inaugurated at DSB campus of Kumaon University. This firing range is equipped with modern technology and has been built to provide excellent shooting training to the cadets. This initiative will not only provide new training opportunities to NCC cadets, but will also open the way to international level competitions like National Games, All India competitions and even Olympics. The firing range was formally inaugurated by Brigadier Sanjay Chauhan, Deputy Director Uttarakhand NCC Directorate.
On this occasion, many officers and dignitaries including Commanding Officer of Nainital NCC Battalion Colonel Rohitashv Sharma, College Principal Prof. PC Pandey, NCC Officer Captain Amit Arya were present. Modern air rifles and electronic target systems have been installed in this hi-tech firing range, which will give the cadets an opportunity to improve accuracy and reaction time. The firing range has been designed in such a way that practice can be done here throughout the year, so that the cadets from the hilly areas of the state will not need to go out for training.
Commodore B.R. Singh said in his address that this firing range will not only be a training centre but will also become a medium to strengthen the confidence, discipline and dedication of the youth towards their goals. He said that the youth of Uttarakhand have immense potential and if they are given the right guidance and facilities, they can make their mark at the national and international level. The cadets also demonstrated firing on this occasion and expressed happiness by practicing in a range equipped with new technology. This range has been specially designed for 10 meter air rifle training. Later, other facilities will also be added to it. The opening of this hi-tech firing range will not only give a new direction to the training of NCC, but it will also play an important role in promoting sports and disciplined lifestyle in the state.
