Dehradun: Under the chairmanship of Commissioner Garhwal Division Vinay Shankar Pandey, the works updated in compliance with the instructions given in the meeting held in the Chardham Yatra Transit Camp Office Rishikesh last month in February were reviewed on Saturday. In which mainly the progress of the construction and widening, patchwork, asphalting etc. works going on by the working units PWD, NH, NHIDCL, BRO, NHAI for the maintenance of roads was reviewed in detail and information was taken from all the District Magistrates about the current status of roads and other necessary arrangements in their districts. The Garhwal Commissioner directed to complete the road improvement works by April 25 in any case. During this, instructions were given to complete the travel arrangements in a timely manner, increase the parking capacity, improve the footpath, facilitate passenger registration, complete the works being conducted for other smooth facilities including health facility and heli service before the Yatra. The Commissioner said that there is no shortage of funds. All District Magistrates should provide their demands.
The Commissioner Garhwal said that to make the Chardham Yatra smooth, safe, convenient and for the success of the Chardham Yatra, the roads must be smooth and safe. He directed to make all the roads on the Yatra route pothole-free and to complete the protection works on the slide zone immediately. While reviewing the arrangements at Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams, the Garhwal Commissioner directed to repair the rain shelters, faith paths and footpaths damaged by snowfall as soon as possible. The capacity of the parking places marked on the Yatra route and the necessary resources should be arranged there. He directed to make proper arrangements for pure drinking water and hot water for horses and mules in all the four Dhams. He said that all the departments should complete the works related to the Chardham Yatra with high priority.
The Tourism Department was instructed to deploy adequate number of staff at the registration counters of the passengers and to further improve and simplify the system of online and offline registration of the passengers. Instructions were given to set up registration counters near the Yatra route and Dhams and start operating all the counters before 28th April. The Health Department was asked to provide ambulances for Chamoli district, deploy doctors and required staff at temporary medical centers on the Yatra route, and make arrangements for life saving medicines, equipment and ambulances. The Transport Department was instructed to arrange additional buses for the Chardham Yatra and make proper arrangements to prevent overloading. It was said that no passenger should be sent back without darshan. Instructions were given to keep water and cleanliness in the Sulabh toilets established on the four Dhams and the Yatra route. Instructions were given to the Electricity Department to ensure uninterrupted power supply in all the four Dhams and the Ureda Department to make arrangements for additional generators. The Commissioner said that adequate stock of food grains, petrol, diesel and gas cylinders should be kept in adequate quantity in the warehouses located on the Yatra route. Instructions were given to BSNL to start smooth operation of frequency, networking and mobile towers for communication system. Instructions were given to the Aviation Department to ban the booking of heli service, fake websites and to make all arrangements for the passengers in the heli premises. IG Garhwal region told that under the traffic plan, every 10 kilometers has been divided into sectors and the nearest police post in-charge has been made its in-charge. Also, the mobile team will do traffic management. In the meeting, all the district magistrates informed about the progress of Chardham Yatra arrangements.
