In Haridwar, Ganga is flowing just .10 meters below the warning level. Police-administration and disaster department are keeping an eye on the water level of Ganga.
If there is continuous rain, Ganga will cross the danger mark: The warning level of Ganga at Bhimgoda Barrage in Haridwar is 293 meters, while the danger level is 294 meters. At present, the water level of Ganga has reached 292.90 meters, which is just .10 meters below the warning level. In such a situation, the risk of flood has increased in the lower areas. Police-administration is alerting people. Also appealing not to go to the banks of rivers at this time.
Advice to stay away from rivers: Situations like Haridwar are prevailing in Rishikesh as well. Administration in Rishikesh is also on alert due to the rise in the rainy rivers. In all the low lying areas, people are being warned to stay away from Ganga and rainy rivers by making announcements.
Chandrabhaga river in spate in Rishikesh: Apart from this, water police and SDRF personnel are seen on alert at all the Ganga ghats. For the first time in Rishikesh, the fierce form of Chandrabhaga river has been seen in this season. The parking built on the banks of Chandrabhaga river is also filled with water. Ganga has also reached its warning line. If the rain does not stop, very soon Ganga will touch its danger mark. In view of the heavy rain, the administration has advised people to avoid traveling on the mountains.
Heavy rain warning in the next 24 hours: Let us tell you that the Meteorological Department had already issued a warning of heavy rain in the state on August 3 and 4. According to the press note issued by the Meteorological Department on Monday, August 4, most parts of the state will witness heavy to very heavy rains in the next 24 hours i.e. till around 10 am tomorrow morning.
Rain alert in these districts: According to the warning issued by the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains along with storms and lightning in different places like Mussoorie, Doiwala, Chakrata, Roorkee, Laksar, Devprayag, Srinagar, Kapkot, Ram Nagar, Mukteshwar, Kotdwar and their surrounding areas in Bageshwar, Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Pauri and Tehri. That is why avoid traveling in hilly areas as much as possible at this time. Because the risk of landslides increases in hilly areas due to rain. Today, on Monday, August 4, heavy landslides have occurred in many districts of Uttarakhand due to rain, due to which many state highways and rural roads along with the National Highway are closed.
