Hyderabad: Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations reached a crescendo on Thursday when the much-awaited Ganesh laddu auction at My Home Bhuja Apartments in Raidurgam concluded at a record price of Rs 51,07,777. The annual event drew the attention of both residents and outsiders, with 12 enthusiastic bidders participating in the high-octane auction held at the apartment’s clubhouse.
Earlier, the atmosphere was filled with devotion and excitement as locals gathered to see which laddu would fetch the highest price this year. The laddu was won by Kondapalli Ganesh, a real estate businessman from Yellandu in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
Kondapalli Ganesh had won the auction last year as well. He had then bagged the laddu for Rs 29.5 lakh. His constant devotion and determination to bring this laddu home earned him applause from fellow devotees.
Highlight of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations
The tradition of auctioning Ganesh laddus is deeply rooted in the Telugu states and many communities consider it as a way to spread blessings and prosperity. It is believed that winning a laddu brings divine grace, good luck and success to the household for the coming year. At My Home Bhuja too, this practice has now become a highlight of their Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and has seen increasing participation year after year.
What is the purpose of the auction?
Apartment association president Nadimpalli Nani Raju explained the purpose of the auction. He said that the entire amount received from the bidding is deposited in the bank and the interest earned from it is used for Vinayaka Chavithi events and other community celebrations the next year. He further added, “In this way, the devotion of the residents converts into a lasting tradition that strengthens both faith and unity.”
Excitement among locals
Locals expressed pride that their apartment complex has become the centre of the most sought-after Ganesh laddu auction in Hyderabad. The vibrant competition and record price this year reflected the growing enthusiasm for the event.
The laddus, which are prepared with utmost reverence and offered to Lord Vinayaka before the auction, not only symbolize a sweet delicacy but also a symbol of collective devotion, community bonding and cultural pride.
The 2025 celebrations at My Home Bhuja concluded with a grand finale with Kondapalli Ganesh rewarding the audience once again, leaving devotees inspired with both faith and celebration.
