New Delhi: Wednesday was a special day at the AIIMS campus in Delhi. French President Emmanuel Macron inaugurated the Indo-French Center for AI in Health. This event was held as part of the India-France Year of Innovation, which symbolizes the growing partnership between the two countries in the science, technology, and health sectors.
President Macron was welcomed by Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and AIIMS Director M. Srinivas. Several senior scientists, doctors, and policy experts from India and France were also present. This event was part of the RUSH (Research and Universities Scientific High-Level Meetings), which brought together over 100 academic and research institutions from both countries. In his address, President Macron described artificial intelligence as the power of the future. He said, “The three main pillars of success in the AI race are computing capabilities, talent, and capital.” AI is not limited to building large data centers; access to affordable and clean energy is equally important. The global AI race must be sustainable and responsible. AI must serve humanity.
This is its objective: The Indo-French Center for AI in Health is a joint initiative of AIIMS Delhi, IIT Delhi, the Paris Brain Institute, and Sorbonne University. Its objective is to promote research in the fields of AI and neuroscience, advance clinical medicine, promote joint training programs for young researchers, and increase research mobility between India and France. The center is expected to bring about major changes in healthcare. Partnership in Health Tech and AI: President Macron also emphasized education and research collaboration, stating that France would simplify visa procedures for Indian students and provide more research opportunities. France’s high-quality education, affordable costs, and programs available in English make it an attractive option for Indian students. This initiative is not just a technical collaboration, but an extension of its strategic partnership. India and France already cooperate in the defense, space, and energy sectors. Now, this new partnership in health tech and artificial intelligence will shape the future. This Indo-French center, launched at AIIMS Delhi, could spark a technological revolution in the healthcare sector.
