Dehradun: Four major sports complexes have been named with the aim of promoting sports facilities in the state and establishing their new identity. After these names were approved by the Governor, a government order was issued on Tuesday.
Now, all the sports facilities present in Raipur, Dehradun will be called Silver Jubilee Sports Complex. Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that the Silver Jubilee Sports Complex will include Maharana Pratap Sports College, Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium and infrastructure of all other sports. Similarly, Indira Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hockey Ground, Swimming Pool, Multipurpose Hall and all other sports facilities in Gaulapar Haldwani have been named Manaskhand Sports Complex.
Haridwar Sports Complex named as Yogasthal Sports Complex
Rudrapur Sports Complex will now be known as Shivalik Sports Complex. It includes Manoj Sarkar Stadium, Multipurpose Hall, Velodrome and all other facilities. Similarly, Haridwar Sports Complex has been named as Yogasthal Sports Complex. This includes Vandana Kataria Hockey Stadium, Multipurpose Hall, Swimming Pool and all other related infrastructure. Special Principal Secretary of Sports Department Amit Sinha has said that this naming has been done to establish the identity of sports facilities and to provide facilities to players and guests keeping in mind future competitions.
Through the Sports Legacy Plan, the government is preparing to bring many new facilities in sports complexes, which also includes the appointment of national and international level coaches. In view of this, all the arrangements of sports complexes have been integrated and given a new name. Under the Legacy Plan, the sports infrastructure of many states of the country has been studied, due to which the best coaching and support staff structure is being prepared, in which the help of institutions like Sports Authority of India (SAI) is also being taken. -Rekha Arya, Sports Minister
