Bhubaneswar: World Bank Group President Ajay Banga visited the Central Tool Room and Training Centre (CTTC) in Bhubaneswar during his visit to Odisha. He urged young people to prepare for jobs in the private sector. He also met with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and praised the state’s development trends, promising cooperation in sustainable development.
Banga said that CTTC is successful because its training is directly linked to the demands of the private sector, and not merely limited to theoretical knowledge. He stated that to leverage its demographic dividend, India must equip the approximately 12 million young people entering the workforce annually with skills relevant to industries including manufacturing, agriculture, and services. World Bank Group President Ajay Banga said, “Global trade has quadrupled in just a few years. The government is taking various steps to strengthen skill training. A sound industrial policy is essential, and with skills, new jobs are being created in the domestic industrial sector, leading to more opportunities. The government needs to support domestic industrial companies, especially MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises).” World Bank President Ajay Banga met with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan. During the meeting, they discussed various issues. Discussions with the World Bank focused on youth skill development, long-term growth, social sector development, and technology-based development, keeping in mind the needs of the private sector in the state.
The Chief Minister presented information to the World Bank President regarding increased investment in infrastructure development, as well as the state government’s key people-oriented schemes and reforms. World Bank President Ajay Banga praised the state government’s transformation and development efforts. He also congratulated the Chief Minister on the skill development mission for the youth.
The World Bank President encouraged providing technical assistance to the state in various policy formulation and operational management. He also promised that the World Bank would assist in establishing central institutions like the Central Tool Room in Odisha. He emphasized skill development through greater government-domestic entrepreneurship. World Bank President and Chief Minister Mohan Majhi discussed how the state’s crucial development goals can be achieved based on the World Bank’s perspective. On this occasion, the Chief Minister presented the World Bank President with the state government’s Vision Document, which aims to create a ‘Developed Odisha’ by 2036 and a ‘Developed India’ by 2047.
