Dehradun Municipal Corporation has started a special intensive campaign to prevent mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, malaria, chikungunya and other infectious diseases. Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal has informed that this campaign is being run in a systematic and phased manner in all the 100 wards of the Municipal Corporation and the objective of the Municipal Corporation is to provide a clean, healthy and safe environment to the city dwellers and to control the infections caused by mosquitoes during the rainy season. For which the Municipal Commissioner inspected the racecourse today under the campaign, in which councilors Mr. Rohan Chandel and Virendra Bisht, Assistant Municipal Commissioner Rajbir Chauhan, Chief Sanitation Inspector Manish Dariyal Sanitation Inspector Rajesh Bahuguna etc. were present in the ward. Some main points were also discussed. The Municipal Commissioner informed that the Municipal Corporation has so far 1. Fogging Campaign From 01 April 2025 The Municipal Corporation started fogging work with the help of 4 big machines in main roads, public places, markets, parks and crowded areas. Its purpose was to control the number of mosquitoes on the major traffic routes and public places of the city. 2. From 16 April 2025 till now Fogging is being done at mohalla-level with the help of 100 small machines in all 100 wards. This work is done regularly in the morning and evening so that the number of mosquitoes can be brought down to the minimum level. 2. Larvicidal spray campaign 1. From 17 April 2025 to 30 April 2025 Larvicidal spray was done with the help of 05 tankers on the major rivers, big drains and waterlogged places of the city. Through this process, eggs and larvae of mosquitoes were destroyed. 2. From 01 May 2025 till now Continuous larvicidal spray campaign is being conducted in all 100 wards with the help of 20 tankers. By preparing a ward-wise list, special attention is being paid to every street, locality, drain and waterlogged places. Use of chemicals by the Municipal Corporation (status so far) Anti-larva (Temephos 50 EC): Use: About 5300 liters were sprayed For fogging (Deltamethrin): Use: About 2950 liters were done The corporation is ensuring that adequate amount of chemicals are stored and used in a timely manner as per the requirement. The Municipal Commissioner told that the Municipal Corporation A special campaign will be launched keeping in mind the waterlogging during the rainy season as a future action plan. The Municipal Corporation teams will conduct continuous monitoring and survey at the ward level. With the help of the Health Department and Asha workers, citizens will be made aware. Public awareness programs will be organized in schools, public places and settlements. Appeal of the Municipal Corporation The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun appeals to the citizens that – Do not let water accumulate in your homes and neighborhood. Clean stagnant water in pots, tyres, coolers and roofs regularly. Do not throw garbage in the open and pay attention to the cleaning of drains. Cooperate in the fogging and spray campaigns run by the Municipal Corporation. This comprehensive campaign cannot be successful without the cooperation and awareness of the citizens. The Municipal Corporation is determined to make Dehradun a mosquito-free and healthy city.
