The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted raids on distributors of banned codeine-containing syrups and other psychotropic drugs in three districts, sealing three shops and posting a notice at one shop.
On Monday, Health Secretary Sachin Kurve held a meeting with FDA officials regarding preventing the use of banned drugs. Following the Health Secretary’s instructions, Additional FDA Commissioner Tajbar Singh Jaggi formed three teams of drug inspectors and conducted raids in Dehradun, Haridwar, and Udham Singh Nagar. The team inspected Mystic Pharma and Trust Way Pharmaceuticals in Herbertpur, Dehradun district. The shops were sealed for violations by both distributors. In Haridwar district, action was taken against Animities Life Sciences Limited in Bahadrabad, where irregularities were found and its stock of medicines was seized for 15 days.
The team arrived at Futech Pharmaceutical Limited in Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar district, but the establishment was closed, forcing the team to post a notice. The department instructed the firm operator to open the shop in the presence of a drug inspector. The Health Secretary stated that action will continue against the sale and manufacture of banned drugs across the state. Any irregularities will not be tolerated.
