During a raid by the District Legal Services Authority and the FDA, cockroaches, dead mosquitoes, hair, and fibers were found in yogurt at Goyal Dairy. The team destroyed 25 kilograms of yogurt. A notice has been issued to the dairy operator, demanding a response within 14 days. Failure to respond will result in the shop’s license being revoked.
The District Legal Services Authority, along with the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department, raided Goyal Dairy on Kanwali Road on Thursday. There had been numerous complaints regarding the poor quality of the dairy’s food. When the team inspected the dairy’s freezer, they found a large number of dead cockroaches in the yogurt, along with dead mosquitoes, hair, and fibers. It’s also concerning that half of the yogurt had previously been sold from the same tray. The dairy operator was also asked for information about the customers who were sold the spoiled yogurt.
The department destroyed 25 kilograms of yogurt on the spot. A notice has been issued to the dairy operator, demanding a response within 14 days. During this time, the team also raided other shops in the area. District Legal Services Authority Secretary Seema Dungrakoti stated that she is continuously making efforts to ensure the sale of quality food. The FDA is also continuously raising awareness among the public. Deputy Commissioner Garhwal Region RS Rawat, Lab Nodal Officer BS Bisht, Ramesh Singh, and others were present during the meeting.
FDA is strict in preventing the sale of substandard food items during Holi.
Manish Sayana, Assistant Commissioner of the Drug Administration and Food Safety Department, stated that the department is strict in ensuring that the quality of food items does not deteriorate during Holi. Shops selling food items are being raided. Furthermore, people are being made aware of this. They have also been urged to immediately file a complaint if they notice the sale of such items.
