In Nainital, the father-in-law, who had gone to the accused’s house with his friend and family to resolve a dispute over the creation of a fake ID of his daughter-in-law and the viral photo, was attacked and killed by the accused with sticks. The mother-in-law and the father-in-law’s friend were injured. Police have filed a complaint against the accused couple and their three sons and have begun efforts to arrest them.
Soni, wife of Shankar Vishwas, a resident of Hari Nagar Colony, Siddha, Nainital, told the police on Friday that her neighbors, Vishal Vishwas, Ashish Vishwas, and Vikas Vishwas, sons of Vidyut Vishwas, had edited her old photo on a fake ID and made it viral on social media. She informed her father-in-law, Nitin Arora alias Nikku, son of Mahendra Singh (46), and her brother-in-law, Daljit Singh, about this incident at 9 pm on Thursday.
The father-in-law, along with his friend Manjit Singh, resident of Itaua, mother-in-law Anita Vishwas, brother-in-law Daljit Singh, and her, went to the accused’s house to inquire. The accused, acting in unison, attacked them with sticks. They attacked the father-in-law with sticks and a brick-breaking tool on his head. The father-in-law was seriously injured and fell unconscious. Mother-in-law Anita Vishwas and Manjeet Singh were also injured. The family admitted the unconscious father-in-law to the Nanakmatta CHC, where, due to his critical condition, he was referred to a higher center. The family then took him to Sitarganj, from where he was taken to a private hospital in Rudrapur, where the doctor declared him dead. Upon receiving the news of his death, the family was devastated. The family was inconsolable due to this tragic incident. Following the post-mortem on Friday morning, the police handed over the body to the family. As of this time, all the accused are absconding.
Based on a complaint, the police have filed a case against five named accused in connection with the murder by beating over a dispute regarding the virality of a photo on social media. Police are attempting to arrest all the absconding accused soon.
