Entry for visitors to the Forest Research Institute has been temporarily suspended. The reason cited for the suspension is security concerns. Between 500 and 700 people visit the Forest Research Institute’s museum and buildings daily. The number increases on Saturdays and Sundays, but citing security reasons, the Forest Research Institute management has temporarily suspended entry. Registrar Vikas Rana has issued an order in this regard.
The order states that, in view of security arrangements, entry to the institute premises will be temporarily closed for all tourists (excluding those who visit in the morning and evening) with immediate effect until further notice. Entry to the institute will only be permitted for educational visits with prior permission.
Changes being made to security arrangements: Rana
The institute’s order cites security as the reason for suspending tourist entry, but the specific reason is not mentioned. This has led to speculation that the move is related to the recent removal of several security personnel. In this regard, Registrar Vikas Rana stated that some changes are being made to the security arrangements, and this step has been taken as part of those changes
