Dehradun: The Election Commission of India has taken a historic decision for the personnel deployed in election duty. The Commission has increased the annual remuneration given to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from 6000 to 12000. Also, the amount given to BLO supervisors has been increased from 12000 to 18000 per year.
The Commission has also increased the incentive amount given to BLOs for the revision work of voter list from one thousand to two thousand. Apart from this, Sub-District Magistrates working as Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) will now be given thirty thousand annual honorarium, while Tehsildar level officers working as Assistant Electoral Registration Officers will be given Rs 25000 annually.
Honorarium fixed for ERO and AERO for the first time
This is the first time that honorarium has been fixed for ERO and AERO. Earlier, the Commission had also approved an additional special incentive of Rs 6000 to BLOs for the special intensive revision starting from Bihar. This decision reflects the Election Commission’s commitment to adequately compensate election personnel who work tirelessly at the field level to maintain accurate voter list, assist voters and ensure smooth conduct of the electoral process.
At present, about 13000 BLOs are working in Uttarakhand. At the same time, about 70 sub-district magistrates are appointed as EROs, who play an important role in the preparation of voter list and strengthening the electoral process.
