In view of the continuous heavy rain, SSP Dehradun is monitoring every situation*
*Amidst heavy rain, the police kept roaming on the banks of the river/drains throughout the night, alerting people and removing people from sensitive places and taking them to safe places*
*05 houses damaged due to the collapse of the embankment of Rispana river in Nehru Colony area and nearby houses were evacuated*
*05 people trapped in 01 house damaged in the rain were evacuated safely by running a rescue operation amidst heavy rain*
Amidst the continuous heavy rain, SSP Dehradun himself is monitoring every situation and has kept the Doon Police on high alert mode, all the station in-charges have been instructed to keep the policemen in a state of readiness 24 hours a day with relief and rescue equipment in their respective police station areas and to alert the people living on the river banks in view of the continuously rising water level of the river/drains due to heavy rain and remove people from sensitive places and take them to safe places.
Late in the night of 05-06/08/2025, Nehru Colony Police Station received information about the embankment on the banks of Deepnagar Rispana river collapsing and some houses being damaged due to it. On the said information, the police force from Nehru Colony Police Station immediately reached the spot. 5 houses were damaged due to the collapse of the embankment of the river, out of which four-five people were trapped inside one house. The way to go to all the said houses was from the embankment on the banks of the river. The police immediately started relief and rescue work amidst heavy rains, broke the wall behind the damaged house and took out the five people trapped in the house safely and took them to safe places. And from the point of view of safety, the houses around the damaged houses were also evacuated and people were taken to safe places.
Apart from this, due to the rising water level of the river in Premnagar area due to heavy rains, people living in slums on the river bank in Nanda ki Chowki were also removed from secret places by the police at night and taken to safer places.
Doon Police is constantly keeping a vigilant eye on every situation and while roaming on the banks of the river/drains, people are being alerted through loud hailers
