Guwahati: The election atmosphere in Assam has started to intensify. The Election Commission published the draft voter list on Saturday, December 27. In this process, the names of 4,78,992 deceased voters were identified and removed after proper verification. According to officials, the draft list includes a total of 2,52,02,775 voters across the state, comprising 1,25,72,583 male voters, 1,26,28,662 female voters, and 379 voters in the ‘other’ category.
Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Assam at the beginning of the new year. Before this, a special revision of the voter list was conducted in the state, involving door-to-door voter verification, and the draft voter list was prepared. The names of 4,78,992 voters were removed during this process.
Following the publication of the draft voter list, voters can now file claims and objections until January 22, 2026. Applications can be submitted for the inclusion of new voters, correction of personal information such as name, age, and address, or for the removal of names. Election officials said that after the disposal of all claims and objections, the final voter list will be published on February 10, 2026.
The draft voter list for Assam was published on Saturday under the Special Revision (SR) process ahead of the 2026 assembly elections, allowing voters to verify and update their information. Voters advised to check details.
Voters have been advised to check their details in the draft roll to avoid any discrepancies before the assembly elections. The draft voter list is available on the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer of Assam, cecassam.nic.in.
The special revision of the voter list in Assam began on November 22. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) conducted door-to-door verification of voters until December 20. Assam has a total of 126 assembly constituencies. Before the special revision began, the total number of voters in the state was more than 2.52 crore.
