Doon Police solved the firing incident outside Boys PG within 24 hours

On the morning of 24/08/2025, Premnagar Police Station received information that 2 unknown persons had fired in front of Gangotri Boys Hostel. On receiving the information, SHO Premnagar along with the force immediately reached the spot. The CCTV footage installed around the incident spot was checked and the operator of the PG Sahil Grewal, son of Shri Sandeep Kumar, resident of Kamalpur Chhutmalpur Saharanpur was questioned, from which it was learned that Vaibhav Tiwari, son of Shiv Bachan Tiwari, resident of Varanasi lives in the said hostel, who was not present in the hostel at the time of the incident. Vaibhav Tiwari was having a dispute with other students of the university for a long time. In the CCTV footage also, 2 persons were seen firing and running away. In connection with the incident, on the application given by the hostel operator Sahil Grewal at Police Station Premnagar, FIR No. – 140/2025 under Section 109/351 (3) BNS and Section 3/25/27 Arms Act was registered against the unknown accused. In view of the seriousness of the incident, SSP Dehradun issued necessary directions for the prompt disclosure of the incident and arrest of the accused. On which 04 different police teams were formed in Premnagar police station. The police team observed the CCTV cameras installed around the spot and thoroughly interrogated other students studying in the university, from which the police team got information about 02 students involved in the incident. On the basis of the information received, the police teams raided the houses of both the accused, but since the incident, both the accused were absconding from their homes and the mobile phones of both were also found to be switched off. As a result of the continuous raids and checking by the police team, the accused Ved Bhardwaj, who came to light in the firing incident, was arrested by the police team from Fun and Food Marg. An illegal country-made pistol, one live and one empty cartridge were recovered from the possession of the accused. The accused is a B-Pharma third year student in a university located in Premnagar Dehradun. During interrogation of the accused, names of some other accused/students involved in the incident have come to light, for whose arrest police teams are continuously conducting raids. *Details of interrogation -* During interrogation, the accused told that they have different groups in the university, in which one group consists of Ved Bhardwaj along with Vipul Pawar and other boys and the other group consists of Vibhav Tiwari and other boys. Before the summer vacation, both the groups had a dispute over influencing other boys in the college, after which from the beginning of the new session, both the groups started competing to show their dominance over each other.
