Dehradun/Chamoli: Voting will be held tomorrow for the posts of District Panchayat President and Block Pramukh under the Uttarakhand three-tier Panchayat elections. Voting will be held tomorrow from 10 am to 3 pm. After this, counting of votes will be done on August 14 itself. Results are also expected by late evening.
Panchayat elections in Uttarakhand are in their last phase. District Panchayat Presidents and 84 Block Pramukhs are to be elected in 12 districts. Even before the voting, BJP has won the election of District Panchayat President unopposed in five districts. BJP has also made 17 Block Pramukhs.
In Chamoli, preparations have been completed by the district administration for the voting for the posts of Area Panchayat Pramukh, Senior Deputy Pramukh and Junior Deputy Pramukh along with District Panchayat President and Vice President. Under the election process, after the process of withdrawal of nominations is completed on Tuesday, the election process of two candidates each for the post of District Panchayat President and Vice President will be completed on August 14.
Assistant Election Officer/Additional District Magistrate Vivek Prakash said that in the order of instructions issued by the State Election Commission, it is mandatory for the newly elected members of the Kshetra Panchayat and the members of the Zilla Panchayat of the three-tier Panchayats to bring any authorized photo identity card along with the certificate issued by the Election Officer or Assistant Election Officer regarding their election to the post of Kshetra Panchayat member and Zilla Panchayat member on the voting day for the Chief, Senior Deputy Chief, Junior Deputy Chief of the Kshetra Panchayat and the voting day for the President/Vice President of the Zilla Panchayat. The candidate for the post of President/Vice President of Zilla Panchayat Chamoli will be allowed only one vehicle for campaigning. No one will be allowed to enter within 100 meters of the polling and counting place except the candidate, election personnel and authorized officials. Strict monitoring will be done to maintain security and peace.
He said that it is necessary for the Chief/Deputy Chief of the Kshetra Panchayat or President/Vice President of the Zilla Panchayat to bring documents to participate in the voting. So that their identity as a voter/member can be ensured. Also, during the counting of votes in the election for the post of Chairman and Vice Chairman of Zila Panchayat and Chief, Senior Deputy Chief and Junior Deputy Chief of Area Panchayats, only one person from among the candidate/ proposer/ seconder can be present in the counting hall. During voting and counting of votes in the election for the post of Chairman/ Vice Chairman of Zila Panchayat, mobile phone/ camera/ electronic watch and pen with camera, shirt button with camera and such electronic material with which photo of ballot papers can be taken will be completely prohibited in the voting and counting room/ hall.
