New Delhi: During the debate on electoral reforms in the Lok Sabha, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi continued his attack on Home Minister Amit Shah. Rahul Gandhi said that the Home Minister did not give a direct answer to any of his questions. He claimed that Amit Shah was very nervous yesterday.
The Congress leader said, “He (Amit Shah) used inappropriate language, his hands were trembling… He is under a lot of mental pressure. Everyone saw this yesterday. He didn’t give a direct answer to what I asked him. He didn’t provide any evidence. I directly challenged him to discuss all my press conferences in Parliament. I didn’t get any answer.”
Congress MP Tanuj Punia also chimed in, saying, “The transparency that should have been there was not visible. Regarding what happened in Haryana, he didn’t answer the real questions, but instead leveled allegations against the Congress. There was no answer to what is happening today.”
Accused of adopting hit-and-run tactics
On the other hand, the BJP accused the Congress and the Lok Sabha LoP of adopting hit-and-run tactics. Union Minister Giriraj Singh attacked the Congress MP, saying, “Rahul Gandhi adopts the hit-and-run formula… When the Prime Minister and the Home Minister speak, he walks out, this is his idea of โโdemocracy. He doesn’t have the courage to listen to the truth.”
He said that he felt bad after hearing what the Home Minister said yesterday. I believe that Rahul Gandhi will have to give up this habit… The entire Nehru family was confused by the Home Minister’s speech.”
Heated exchange between Amit Shah and Rahul Gandhi
Tensions escalated in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday when a heated exchange took place between Amit Shah and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi over allegations of vote rigging. Gandhi repeatedly challenged Shah to debate the issues raised in his press conferences, including claims of irregularities in the voter list.
Shah responded sharply, saying, “Parliament will not run according to his wishes,” and insisted that he would answer all questions in due course. Shah also defended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, calling it a necessary process to clean up the electoral rolls.
Accusing the opposition of double standards, he said they praised the Election Commission when they won and attacked it when they lost. The confrontation escalated when opposition MPs staged a walkout during Shah’s reply, forcing an adjournment of the Lok Sabha proceedings.
